Our Story
Like many, when the lock-downs started in 2020 we found ourselves with time on our hands and not much to do. While Netflix & gaming were the obvious time wasters we hoped for something positive out of the experience.
We had all enjoyed reading as kids. But somewhere along the way we had lost the habit - sucked into our smart phones and busy lives like everyone else. So we decided it was time for a change. Stuck at home and missing conversation getting together to discuss what we were reading was very appealing.
The Slushfund Book Club was born.
Now 2 years on - with some changes of faces and despite being back to busy lives the Slushfund Book Club is still going strong.
Our Mission
We're on a mission to get reading again. We all used to read as kids but now it's all too easy to while away those spare moments scrolling through the socials.
We want to get the reading habit back - but for fun, not for homework!
How it Works
We want to live in a world where people read for pleasure. It should be fun and enjoyable, but with just enough pressure to make it a habit. So our Book Club has 3 simple rules:
Everyone takes a turn to choose a book. It's nice to have some control and share new things.
We agree how much to read each week. Life's busy - reading shouldn't be a chore!
We meet once a week to chat through what we've read. No set questions, just chat - reading shouldn't be a test!
Meet the Club
